Do Dragons have sex like chickens (Fertilization inside the female) or do they fertilize the eggs after they are laid?

And also in a related question:

If dragons don't have sex, do they lay eggs that are sterile, so you could serve them up in an omelet without fear of killing a baby dragon?

Dragons are warm-blooded, so I would think they go about it like chickens would instead of like the cold-blooded lizards.

At the moment, I'm entertained by the thought of asking the details.  I bet it's dead boring, though.

Dragons are magical creatures.  They may not have sex at all - they may reproduce in a purely magical and spectacular way.  They might do it like mammals, or anything.  I suspect it might be best for your campaign for you to think about how you _want_ it to work, then let your players try to find out if they're really that interested.  It could be quite dangerous uncovering this nugget of wisdom

Personally, I'd go with the 'complete eggs'/chicken style, so if they're stolen they contain an embryo like a chicken egg, which PCs could hatch, or eat, or whatever they desire to do.  It's your call, though.

This, assuming they're reproducing in their natural form.
But they can take on any form they want, and probably have sex like a normal creature of that type in that case. Hell, even when mating with another dragon they might change shape to a form that they believe to have more pleasurable sexual intercourse or to have a higher conception rate.

Even humans don't have the appetites dragons do.  There are half dragon t-rexes in adventures.  WHich kind of has to be like humans fucking a baboon and somehow magically conceiving a child...
