In our group's main / most consistent campaign, one of our friends has this quest that will take him easily into the epic levels to finish because it deals with finding a dead god.

Meanwhile, my level three character knows a hell of a lot about that god's resting place, but is sworn not to share any of it - and I'm not supposed to share it OOC by the DM's asking.

... I mean, I enjoy secrets, but FRGHRHFHRHFHGR.

So, I have been avoiding coming on these forums for nearly a year now. Not because I dislike you guys, quite the opposite in fact. The community here is so awesome and keeps me so interested that everything else in my life slowly started to fall apart as I ploughed more and more time into reading and posting around here.

Yesterday I finally decided enough time had passed and that I could return but even now I can feel myself wanting to compulsively read every post on my "New Replies" page...

Anything we can do to help?  I can try to be less awesome if you'd like.   

Nah, I just need to learn to have more willpower. It is nice to be back though.

I'm assuming they're blueberries, they might be.  Could be boysenberry or rhubarb, for all I know.

So I met the new case manager.  We're discussing why I don't get along with the locals and I mention it's because they find me alien.  I don't drink, I don't smoke, I don't use illegal drugs, I don't beat my wife and children, etc.  He asks if I'm married, and I say no, and then he says "Well thats why you don't beat your wife, you don't have one."  I'm seriously considering not going back.

It's less what he said and more the snide way in which he said it.  It didn't come across as a joke, it came across as "lack of opportunity is the only way you maintain self control".  The majority of people the local hospital sees are domestic abuse cases so they see a lot of misogyny, and in my case they have often mistaken simple misanthropy for something else due to the majority of their patients being misogynist (and lying about it).  The manner in which he did it almost came across as "lets poke him, and see if he loses emotional control".

Due to the metrics their organization employs you have to get better within a certain amount of time or they gig their employ.  In short if you arent an easy case, you're detrimental to their career.  It's common for them to provoke people to anger so they do something stupid in order to toss them from the program, or say you''re uncontrollable so they can shift you to become someone else's responsibility.

Unfortunately, I'd most likely say something like...

"Wow. That was very passive aggressive. Bad day at home? Dude, bit of advice? I think your attitude might improve dramatically once you realize the sticky side goes against your panties."

It always seems to work for me -- I don't know why more people don't do it.

That's weird that their only important metric is "up".
As long as I have a herniated disk with all of the standard treatments except direct surgery, I get better only "up" to a certain plateau, and then sit there like one of murphy's laws.

This sounds like an awesome campaign.  I can't wait till the guy starts using Divinations/CoP to find out who knows about this stuff.
