I just finished watching The Treasures of Kerubim Crispin.

I'm sad now.

Sad.

(Both because of the feel of the ending, and because now I have to go find something else to watch that probably won't be as good. Oh well, time to check on the progress of Miraculous Ladybird...)

EDIT: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! The release date for Miraculous Ladybird has been moved back to September 2015.

Even sadder now.

Unrelated rant:

My first name looks extremely childish to me; I know this is extremely silly, but I'm always a bit embarrassed to sign off an email with it, or to put it on official paperwork.

I don't know why I have this impression, but I do.

I also find my name sounds silly, but only when I'm the one saying it. Other people seem to be able to pull it off, though; except they always want to spell it with a K instead of a C.

Don't get me started on my last name, though; I used to have to correct people on the spelling all the time, even though its only 4 letters long (they'd drop the last consonant. replace the i with a u or e, add a letter...)

I fell asleep in my chair about half a day ago and it did something to my neck/head. Now I have to keep them in a specific position or get horrible shooting pain. Sleeping for a couple of hours helped temporarily but it came back after I got up. Praying that it goes away with time.

I also notice that the last time I was one here was back in April  :-\. I love you guys, really! I just don't have much to say here.

In all seriousness, though, welcome back, stranger. I hope your neck troubles clear up (I suggest a hot shower or bath. A long one.)

Tried a shower. Didn't help...I'll probably try a nice soak next after work.

Now that I'm back, I should probably fix my avatar...there!

youtube tai chi, its great for straightening out those aches.

really the trick is an 'active' stretch across a full range of motion. you press and pull your whole upper body a few times add a couple aspirin and you'll be good as new, eventually.

I have two extraordinarily uncommon surnames with spellings that nobody ever gets right on the first time. One of them is Portuguese in origin and sounds very close to the Portuguese word for beer. The other is either Spanish or French, I can't figure out which, and has nothing close to which most people can relate.

The end result is that whenever someone has to write my name down, I have to speak it slowly, like I'm talking to a child, and most of the time they STILL get my name wrong.

My name is somewhat ethnically separate from myself as well.  My Searching for my name on Google image returns a ton of black athletes (the most famous people who share my last name are a football player and a civil rights leader, and then one white author), and a few other assorted black people, while I am Norwegian decent.  There's I think 3 common ways to spell my first name, and the way mine's spelled is the "non-white" way of doing it.  Of course, it also doesn't help that my dad shares an exact name with a famed civil rights leader (also black, down to the spelling, there's no 'h' in their spelling, most people have an 'h').  I'm just glad my name's not Ray...

So I guess mine's not uncommon.  It's just that it's spelled like someone who looks nothing like me, and I've had a couple people not know I wasn't black until we met.

PREEDIT: just did the search again, slightly different results.  I'm still a black athlete, but there's white people in the fist few results.  Not a lot, but some.  And the last name (something I did not do before) turns up a lot of the author (and person with the first name of my last name) at first, but later on it's civil rights leader, football player, and professional fighter who apparently has this last name (but spells his first name wrong, there's only one r!).

Google image searching my full name returns exactly one picture of myself (first result, even), and then a lot of samurai pictures, most of them linked to the site of Instituto Niten, a place I used to practice Kendo at a long time ago.

Change your middle name to "The".

Tell them: my parents were going through this phase and ... (blah blah) ... it's like you can call me Donald The Trump.

Amechra The (x)_________

edit --- I should say I have no idea what word would do the trick, in Brazilian Portuguese.  Kuroi The Maken does have a certain ring to it.

... I have good ideas for what to use the Items in "I Can Use That" for, but I can never think of a good item to follow up with.
What? It's a small rant!

Quick, look to your right!  Do you see a problem that needs fixing?

Make a magic item to fix that problem!

But wait, rub an Eiji on it and now it's ruined!  Perfect for your next item!

Sadly, that makes it even worse in my case.

My last name is pronounced like a rough synonym of 'derp'. It's (originally) French.

There are some times I wish I was a Pfitzner (my paternal grandmother's maiden name) or a Hughes (my mother's maternal name).

EDIT: Also, I'm a confirmed Catholic, so I already have two middle names. I guess if I really need a pseudonym I could go by either ("Jerome Pfitzner" sounds suitably writer-ish, right?)

I wonder if sleep is linked to appetite. I pulled an all-nighter last night to reset my sleep schedule and I haven't been hungry all day.

On second thought, I don't know if this is a rant.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Not bitching. Follow up to bitching. So I've gotten "sick" and my chiropractor has limited me to only light duty. Damn. Can't work at my old job anymore until he releases me back to work.  I'm now burning up the 5 months of sick time/vacation time they won't give me. I suspect if this lasts long enough I might just quit. However, they can't stop me from getting another job that involves office work somewhere else. (yeah, I know I'm suspended over a false accusation. Funny how they can both happen at the same time. Life just ain't fair.)

So if you have the following qualifications, guess what your ideal job is:

1. You like helping people.
2. You enjoy Min/Maxing large sets of rules with many obscure exceptions
3. You are a DM who is good at controlling large groups of people who act like a herd of cats.

(click to show/hide)

I've been taking the tests for licensing in my state, which is at your own speed on-line. Normally, I'm told, it takes about a week to ten days, working weekends, to get through it.

I finished in 3 days.

The whole time I'm sitting here, flying through these questions going, "So... when are we going to get to the hard part?"
