So, this started out a bit complex with a lot of skill checks and little direction on where/what the players should do. I think that must have been a major hurdle in keeping the steam going for this, aside from my diminishing time since starting Grad school.

Is anyone still interested in playing a 5E game? I could continue with the current scenario or start fresh if need be. If we restarted, I'm not sure if I'd keep the same basic plot I was planning on using, though since we didn't really touch it, it would depend largely on the players involved. Anyone would be free to keep their characters or start anew.

It might be a slow process, though, and updates still wouldn't be overly frequent, but I could keep the game going with enough player interest.

Well, bhu, it's me an you so far. Do you want a campaign that fits the same basic archetype, or a different sort of setting and plot? I know you tend to like injecting a bit of humor and twisted sensibility in your games, at least given your characters and the jesters realm game, though I don't really run the same kind of game. I'm open to running something different from the standard fantasy tropes (I kind of miss my Firefly/sci-fi ripoff game), and have had plenty of ideas for games in all sorts of settings and such.

Would you be open to moving this out of Forgotten Realms? I'm ok with keeping the setting, but if I reboot the game, I might want to flex my world-building muscles a bit. It could probably still be part of a general multiverse/planes kind of deal, but stepping out of the established setting lets me introduce different elements.

I'm realizing now that the setting ideas I was having sound a lot like the one in your Jester's Realm game (a city in the sky that's somewhat more advanced than the world below), so I probably will have to tinker with the ideas a bit.

Your character would still fit in just fine. Probably even better, actually, since I can custom-tailor certain elements to fit his background.
