Apparently the protagonists of the manga can be summed up as a nice guy, a sociopath, and a borderline psychopath. XD

... really need to seek it out some time. Mostly because giant giant mecha.

Relevant video.

Of my friends, we managed to name 2/3s of those mecha and only I knew what White Glint was.

*imaginary* super robots and beings with no connection whatsoever to reality even tangentially...
I imagine the bigger problem is that the super robots, et al. don't even exist in the same imaginary conceptual space.  It's not so hard to compare Aragorn to Bilbo or Jaime Lannister to Podric Payne.  And, occasionally can be important, such as making sure a character's response to a threat by Jaime makes sense.  Comparing Ichigo Kurosaki to Wing-0 ...
That's another really big issue. And i don't know what makes people so obsessed about powerlevelzzz. Like you said, powerlevels only really compare if they are within the same context, and i believe that is just not possible with so many writers going so many different routes with their characters in their individual comics, both in Marvel and in DC. For me that's just not possible, unless it's in a crossover story where the characters meet and you can see what they do in relation to eachother.

There are hulk stories that make him able to go to insane powerlevelzz because he's so angry, and in others, he's just inferior to many of the other superheroes, period. There's no consistency at all. That goes for all the comics in the DC/Marvel universe.
"All the pride and pleasure of the world, mirrored in the dull consciousness of a fool, are poor indeed compared with the imagination of Cervantes writing his Don Quixote in a miserable prison" - Schopenhauer, Aphorisms: The Wisdom of Life

Marvel and DC have been schizophrenic about their characters for YEARS now. Continuity has always been a big complaint just as much as consistency. Each new continuity brings its own problems with it too. Like the infamous alternate-universe Logan x Hercules gay kiss...

The reason it's cheap is because they otherwise could never afford to do the fight sequences. :p

Anyone has seen Nobunaga the Fool?

It's Nobunaga. With mechas! And Joan d'Arc joins in as the first of many western personalities mixed in his adventure to take over Japan Eastern planet.

Six episodes of ~20 min so far. Seems to be your typical weekly series.

Which publisher-anniversary-crossover-fighting-game excites you more, J-Stars Victory VS or Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax?

Tough call. Bunko looks like it's a more fun game to play overall...

...but few things sound as satisfying as beating the everloving CRAP out of pretentious characters from the Naruto franchise with some REAL heroes.

I also say Bunko, but mainly because its a traditional sidescroller. I'm always crash/glitching the 3d fighting games. Also some of the Jump characters just don't seem well rendered.
