It's the Daily Mail so take it with a bucket of salt:  Man chooses death over more shopping.

http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/ted-cruz-praise-nelson-mandela-criticized-article-1.1539686

He attracts crazy people, this is not a surprise.

Yeah but some of his supporters are clamoring for a recall vote due to the mandela post.

You gotta admit that's just damn funny.

Mandela was a Great Man.

But yeah, when Bush 43 and Newt Gingrich and Ted Cruz all together
are the Voice Of Reason, you know those people are cray-cray-crazy.

Is it me, or was South Africa's post-colonial/post-racist governing
the most successfully Capitalist, of all of Africa?  It's just me, right?
Bah, why bother with those idiots --- 'cept there's so many of them.

http://features.blogs.fortune.cnn.com/2013/11/01/what-will-it-take-to-fix-chinas-pollution-problem/?iid=HP_River

The story itself isn't much WTF (well, it's not WTF if you're aware of China's massive pollution issues like whole areas blanketed by black smog and rivers filled with trash and dead fish), but this one dipshit...  people actually take advice from this fucktard?

Quote
Not everyone sees it that way. "You don't need to fix it everywhere," says Ian Bremmer, who runs the global political-risk consulting firm Eurasia Group from New York. "What they really need to do, at least in the near term, is to address the problem in the most important cities, where people are coming in from out of the country and where there is a lot of media." To Bremmer, the air-pollution problem is a PR screw-up more than a national crisis. He argues that the quality of life is so low in much of China that what seems unacceptable to expatriates and visiting journalists simply isn't top-of-mind to the average Chinese citizen. "The comment that people wouldn't take their kids out in this pollution is overblown because they can't afford to take their kids out anyway," he says.

Holy shit, China actually listened to this asshole!

Quote
You can’t make this stuff up. On Sunday, with swaths of eastern China shrouded in a polluted haze, Chinese state media decided to release a list of five “surprising benefits” of smog. Here, courtesy of Wang Lei, an editor for China Central Television’s website, are five good things about bad air:

1. It unifies the Chinese people.
 2. It makes China more equal.
 3. It raises citizen awareness of the cost of China’s economic development.
 4. It makes people funnier.
 5. It makes people more knowledgeable (of things like meteorology and the English word haze).

I would not want to be a chinese boyfriend.  The prick to chick ratio in that country is severely out of whack, and you can bet the girls know it!

Yes, my reservations have already been made in hell.

It's harder being a chinese woman.  To pass the family farm down, the families heir has to marry.  But they keep aborting all their girl children in rural areas because they stupidly believe women can't work the land, so they have no women for their sons to marry.  So they're allowing cousins to marry now (or just flat out allowing incest out in the boonies).

Others have resorted to kidnapping female tourists or women working in the city.

I believe this qualifies as sufficiently WTF for this thread.

And here I thought that was going to involve a weird association bylaw. Those can get really restrictive, and the motivating force is often "they want things to look pretty".

From my neck of the woods...  Parents of the year!

What the story doesn't say is that they were also both high on Meth and were trying to return christmas items to a walmart that is still under construction.  Fun fact about this same walmart location...  It hasn't opened yet and it already has the highest incidence of employee theft in all of Nebraska.
