Could always be a matter of finding the right genre or the right author... Or just show your kid some Studio Ghibli; she's bound to watch it with him, and from there she might actually like it.

That'll take some years, though... Kid is only 1year 2 months old. He'll have to be at least 4 in order to watch any DUBBED anime, and at least 6 or 7 before his reading is fast enough that he can watch subtitled ones.
That's being conservative, the kid might learn how to read faster, and learn to read faster more rapidly. Or he might take longer. It's a toss-up with kids, sometimes they learn stuff amazingly quick, sometimes they don't. Best thing i learned is not to expect anything, but rather to encourage the natural process...

My two year old little brother watches dubbed Ghibli films.  You don't need to wait until four.

Nans ninja'd me pretty good.

I was watching Robotech and Superbook when I was two as well. And Dune when I was six months old, courtesy of my dad.

Kid doesn't need to understand it to have fun with it.

It is weird that simply being able to move forward with a server upgrade project that has been on hold for months has made me so much happier with my job.

most kids will watch cartoons even if they don't understand the words. on the other hand, your kid might start quoting random japanese phrases at inopportune times.... ymmv. ^^

I'm back! I made between five and nine songs in the last month, depending on how you count it. I am pleased. Also, it is Saturday.

Saw Ender's Game today. Fucking loved it! I already heard good things about the books and now i'm completely sold, going to start soon.

The books are pretty good, although the political rhetoric in them can be detracting.  There's Ender's Game and then Speaker For The Dead as the first two, which I've read myself.  The third, Xenomorphs, I haven't, but Ive also heard it's supremely dull compared to the others.  Then Ender's Shadow is from Bean's perspective as he and Ender go through the "schooling" and such.

In my own news:  I got talking with a friend I hadn't really chatted with much before, but we kept talking and have pretty much become brother and sister now, supporting each other through tough times.  She's married and hence there will never be anything between us romantically, but I think that's kinda nice since not having the issue of romance means I can be a better friend and supporter for her without the romantic stuff getting in the way and making things awkward.

I'm glad you enjoyed the movie, but as someone for whom Ender's Game has been my favorite book for more than 20 years, I have to say that I thought the movie was absolutely atrocious, and one of the worst film adaptations I've ever seen.

Go read the book(s). Read it several times. Then go watch the movie again and you'll see what I mean.
