Phew, at long last my trip is over.  I think I've landed somewhere in the future due to relativistic effects.  What year is it?  WHAT YEAR IS IT!?!??!

I see I've landed in the awesome timeline with the mecha-smallpox.  Only one thing to go: HENSHIN-A-GO-GO!  RISE BURNING MINMAX X!

*Summons a bunch of optimized builds which combine together into a giant fighting robot!  And he forms the head!*

KING OF DESTRUCTION: GETTER GAMEOLOGIST G!

Actually now I'm imagining "Woodpunk" mecha battles in Columbus times.  Holy shit why is this not already a thing?

I'm confused, here. Is this part of the Lightspeed Santa Eiji line of posts, or is there something "thorium" refers to that I'm not aware of? I don't imagine you got a radioactive substance for Christmas.

To wit:
I'm still waiting for my thorium..

I'm going pretty fast so the light from the thorium may not be visible due to blueshifting.  See if there's a black spot around emitting lethal doses of gamma rays.  It should be traveling at relativistic speeds.

I'm still waiting for my thorium..

Amen
It gave me an excuse to post that image macros.  :cool

thorium is not very weaponizable. it's great for power plants on the other hand, and we have simply oodles of it laying around the country. check the waste piles of any coal-based power plant. too bad we don't actually use it for power plants, considering that we have enough laying around to power the US for a century or so. though, i suppose you could always go low-tech and clonk someone over the head with a chunk of it.

Nephew got into a wreck.  His friend was driving and took a corner too fast.  Hit a tree trying to avoid cars after he went into the skid.  Nephew thought he was okay but went to hospital after complaining of pain.  Has multiple fractures in sternum, and ekg said he has massive bruising of the heart.  They were going to do emergency surgery, but apparently further testing determined the fractures were throwing off the ekg results.  He does have a bruised heart, but not nearly so bad as they thought.  They let him out this evening.

Kid got lucky.

Happy slightly less New Year!

I just got back from my sister's wedding in England - it was pretty great.

Visited the doc today and am on a new medication in addition to my Prozac:  Wellbutrin.  Crossing my fingers it brings out the good times when I've got energy and can focus instead of the bad when I've got energy and just devolve into a twitching mass of WTF? curled in a blanket burrito.

Be careful with the dose on that stuff.  They accidentally gave a friend too high a dose and he went from depressed to raving about obama, google, and china plotting world dominion.
