If Alexei still has a beef with Skavis from his bout with them, Kitty probably wouldn't have minded some help in the money transfer part of her so-called "plan".

This makes a lot of sense, particularly with his gambling fetish.
For that matter, Kitty likes gambling too, though she's more into bluff-based games like poker.

The problem with games like poker is that probability is much less important, and therefore less abuseable.  In that respect, Roulette is king.

Boz, for a game like Poker, Deceit/Rapport is probably the way you'd play.  How about games of chance?

I'm going to write up a guest-starring role for Kitty right now, and then I'll poke through Phil & Leo and figure something else out.

Exactly. :D So long as you can bullshit like a champ...

My take on it would be that it would literally be up to chance, i.e. no skill involved, but you could create and tag appropriate aspects (with entropomancy, rigging the game, etc.) to either tilt the odds in your favor or outright declare you win, with aspects on opposing sides cancelling each other out.

Pretty much this. There's no appropriate skill for a coin flip or die roll, obviously.

Also, are you guys planning to move forward with the ritual?

I already said I'm on board. I asked before what I need to do. I thought I read that with thaumaturgy, all you need is time appropriate to the required shifts in power or something, and so you don't actually end up needing to roll for anything. I could be wrong, but that's why I asked.

Whoops, that's my fault. Must have missed that somewhere along the line.

If you're not in any particular hurry to cast the spell, then you can just do it without rolling, so if you went back to Ziggy's place to do this then we go "yes that sure was incredible spellcasting what a budget this show must have!"

If you're doing it in the station, then presumably you're more concerned with time. At that point, we keep track of the number of exchanges it takes to cast. Each exchange, you determine how many shifts of power to put into the spell (taking stress only if you go over Conviction) and roll Discipline to control it. Once you have enough shifts for the spell, it goes off. If you muck up a control roll, you either eat all the shifts you've put into the spell so far as backlash (mental stress for you) or fallout (environmental problems). If any of it escapes as fallout, the spell breaks down, but if you choose backlash instead it can keep going. So you can theoretically muck up a control roll on the last stage of casting, take it all to the face as backlash, and finish the ritual with no problems.

Casting it at a rate of three shifts per exchange (which is pretty feasible with your Discipline of Great) gives you a six-exchange completion time with not too much risk, which I think I pegged earlier at about three minutes. An alternate plan for doing it faster was for Phil to pump as much power as veekie was willing to risk into the spell up front and eat the backlash, then have you finish it off more safely by channeling one or two shifts per exchange for the rest of the ritual.

Hmm, that sounds feasible. What do you guys think? I believe your characters were more interested in getting things done down here rather than going back.

I'd say right there, except Phil is in character not too likely to propose that(he'd help though!)
Everything is edible. Just that there are things only edible once per lifetime.
It's a god-eat-god world.

Procrastination is the thief of time; Year after year it steals, till all are fled,
And to the mercies of a moment leaves; The vast concerns of an eternal scene.

So, probably either Lilly or Leo to propose the ritual? We're nearing that unfortunate point where it'll have been a month since someone posted in the IC thread.

Also, Alexei fits nicely into where I was planning to go with this, so after a scene or two more I ought to be able to bring him in very neatly.

Great! Except, crap... I forgot about his other blurb.  I need to look at this again.  Bluh.

I was half tempted to put it off for another two days just so I could post exactly one month after the last post.

Hey Venn, who stole the Relic in Leo's first adventure?

You know, I don't think I ever really thought about that. Someone dangerous, of course, like another wildfae or other supernatural threat probably.

The problem I'm having is that Alexei's Lore is crap.  He has very little knowledge of the supernatural other than some experience with WCVs.  So how does he get involved with the Fae or anything else?

Well, you don't need to get involved in that story. We can come up with something else entirely.

Lol.  It's either that or Phil's story, which is just as tough...

Remember that you don't necessarily have to know what it is. It might be more interesting for everyone involved (Leo, Kitty, and Alexei) if the thing they tangled with was something they didn't entirely understand. Certainly leaves opportunities for me to bring it back.

Another cause of the problem I'm having is that I have no idea what Alexei's doing in Vienna besides hitting the roulette wheel and scoring some sweet dough.

I imagine the Skavis aren't too happy about having to be nice to you. Which means that you get to milk the opportunity for everything it's worth. You're constantly pushing the boundaries, cleaning up at the casinos, testing the edges of their frayed, smoldering patience. Why? Because it's a gamble.

...or something like that.

So, we were just about to start the ritual, yes? Alexei is probably champing at the bit.
