Whoops, looks like it's my turn. I'll try to post tomorrow morning before work, otherwise most likely once I get home.

Updated the maps. So here is the door on the right side of the map, the holes above that go back up to the floor somewhere else in the dungeon,  or backtracking the way you came in.

Just popping in to say that my computer is being constructed right now and I should get it in about a week or so, with the subsequent 24/7 internet access to folllow. Took me weeks to get ahold of my friend who knows more about computers than I do, ended up not getting enough help from him, got tired of waiting and logged into Swedens biggest computer-nerding-board for people constructing their own computers... got enough help by day 3 that I ordered the proper parts. So... this took about a month longer than it needed. Oh well  :rolleyes
I'm currently at the local library to post this. I've had internet now and then, but it was definetly a good choice to have our dear DM take care of my buisness. For one, he can pass a Perception check...  ;)

Sorry, I've been really busy lately. I've hardly had any time to myself.

Nan - Is it a question of character motivation or are you missing details from me to decide what your character can do? I think your character would be more bent on avenging your fallen brother over rescuing peasants he would have protected, so he may not be terribly interested in these NPCs.

Venn- No problem. It's good to know that though and I know to keep you in the background instead of expecting a response.

I will also assume Aurenn has been busy the last 10 days or so too and Shadow should be back soon.

I don't want to have to have the characters I am running in place of player absences to just lead the party around by the nose though. I am likely going to replace Atanos after this installment if they do not return before that time. The second installment is definitely my favorite of the heroic tier in this adventure path.

Character motivation.  Silten I've fleshed out a personality and motivation and all of that fun stuff and I'm quite attached to him.  Dalanath is still just a generic rogue who wants to stab things and I'm just not sure what to do with him.  This isn't anything to do with you, it's something I need to sort out.

This may help you figure out your character a bit. I found the normal Ammo for the GM I have used for my saga game does not fit well in the Fantasy side but I did find a different type of questionnaire that helped me develop characters for a couple other 4e games I have played in;

• What is your character’s name? Does the character have a nickname?
• What is your character’s hair color? Eye color?
• What kind of distinguishing facial features does your character have?
• Does your character havea birthmark? Where is it? What about scars? How did he get them?
• Who are your character’s friends and family? Who does she surround herself with? Who are the people your character is closest to? Who does he wish he were closest to?
• Where was your character born? Where has she lived since then? Where does she call home?
• Where does your character go when he’s angry?
• What is her biggest fear? Who has she told this to? Who would she never tell this to? Why?
• Does she have a secret?
• What makes your character laugh out loud?
• When has your character been in love? Had a broken heart?
Then dig deeper by asking more unconventional questions:
• What is in your character’s refrigerator right now? On her bedroom floor? On her nightstand? In her garbage can?
• Look at your character’s feet. Describe what you see there. Does he wear dress shoes, gym shoes, or none at all? Is he in socks that are ratty and full of holes? Or is he wearing a pair of blue and gold slippers knitted by his grandmother?
• When your character thinks of her childhood kitchen, what smell does she associate with it? Sauerkraut? Oatmeal cookies? Paint? Why is that smell so resonant for her?
• Your character is doing intense spring cleaning. What is easy for her to throw out? What is difficult for her to part with? Why?
• It’s Saturday at noon. What is your character doing? Give details. If he’s eating breakfast, what exactly does he eat? If she’s stretching out in her backyard to sun, what kind of blanket or towel does she lie on?
• What is one strong memory that has stuck with your character from childhood? Why is it so powerful and lasting?
• Your character is getting ready for a night out. Where is she going? What does she wear? Who will she be with?

•What do you consider your greatest achievement?
•What is your idea of perfect happiness?
•What is your current state of mind?
•What is your favorite occupation?
•What is your most treasured possession?
•What or who is the greatest love of your life?
•What is your favorite journey?
•What is your most marked characteristic?
•When and where were you the happiest?
•What is it that you most dislike?
•What is your greatest fear?
•What is your greatest extravagance?
•Which living person do you most despise?
•What is your greatest regret?
•Which talent would you most like to have?
•Where would you like to live?
•What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?
•What is the quality you most like in a man?
•What is the quality you most like in a woman?
•What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?
•What is the trait you most deplore in others?
•What do you most value in your friends?
•Who is your favorite hero of fiction?
•Whose are your heroes in real life?
•Which living person do you most admire?
•What do you consider the most overrated virtue?
•On what occasions do you lie?
•Which words or phrases do you most overuse?
•If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
•What are your favorite names?
•How would you like to die?
•If you were to die and come back as a person or thing, what do you think it would be?
•What is your motto?

Hope it helps you find the true Dalanath.

I don't fill out everything either. But I usually do enough to get me a good idea of how a character would respond differently than I would. That's when the character can take on a life of it's own.

Unfortunately my life has gotten significantly busier recently and I'm not going to be able to keep up with the amount of PbPs I'm in currently, and Dalanath isn't going to make the cut.

I'm sorry for the problems this will cause, what's the best way to transition him out?

I can pick him up for the time it takes to write him out. Thanks for letting us know. It's unfortunate, but I completely understand it.
