Texas has enough petitions for White House attention.  The secession thing.  Wow.

Hey, it's not you, it's me. If it's anyone, it's definitely me.  ;) I just don't want to hold anyone back, if they don't want to be here. If you love something, you set it free, right? Not keep it in a cage?  :p

Edit: We should also put in the agreement that any right-wing nut jobs who want to immigrate to Texas from the US be allowed to do so freely. This could go a long way towards improving the US as a country.  :lmao

Agree if they pay us the money to move our troops/military bases/weapons elsewhere. Just as the petition says, we should not supply resources to foreign countries on U.S. taxpayer dollars.
Hmm.

Hopefully Obama will be much more liberal now that he doesn't need to worry about re-election.

Politically it would be a bad move on his part.  If he suddenly yanks to far to the left...

Obama is NOT left-wing: He extended the powers of the PATRIOT Act, signed the NDAA section of indefinitely detaining US citizens with no trial, didn't support gay marriage until NC's Amendment One passed, didn't knock down the Bush tax cuts quick enough, and created a troop surge to Afghanistan to placate the far-right war hawks.  In many ways, he's a moderate.  I'm not saying that he should go full Bernie Sanders, just reverse several of his aforementioned conservative positions.  Withdrawing from Afghanistan would be a good start.

Wasn't implying he was, I was making a statement about the stupidity of the electorate who believe any slight move towards the left means the Apocalypse is coming and they have to take up arms against teh baby eating communists.  People hate change here, and they scare easily.  If he pushes too had he gives the right fuel for the next election, and complicates his relationship with his own side.

bhu, the far-right nutjobs you live around are a dying breed.  They are going to go down swinging when their "traditional" America changes, so there's little point for a Democrat to tiptoe around them in order to avoid pissing them off.  Look at the changing attitudes towards gay marriage, for example.  If anything, staying right-wing on certain issues will hurt politicians in future elections as they lose the Latino, African-American, female, youth, and non-homophobe vote.

That's right, because America doesn't have troops/bases/weapons in other countries.   :rolleyes

Indeed.  Talk to those nuts and you'll find out they think taking over education the way Texas has, destroying the Department of Education, vastly expanding homeschooling or voucher/private schools, and outbreeding "murdering commies who kill their children via abortion" will give them the edge again someday.

In short their delusional goal is to ban abortion/contraception so whites stay a majority forever, then destroy education to 'save the children from indoctrination by the commies'.  They seriously see the current election as a sign that Kruschev's infamous comment is coming true and they need to take up arms if necessary.  I'm getting asked to join militia's by freaks standing on street corners now.  Some of them don't ask nicely if you get my meaning.

Everybody should just stop talking about how they don't want me to be an American anymore.   :P

Anyways, nothing is going to actually happen.  It isn't as if this is the first time any state has done this.

Dey terkin' err jerbs?

As for the other stuff, I don't have a problem with the concept of universal healthcare, but I do have a problem with the implementation. As it was explained to me (I admit this was from my intelligent, conservative mother, so it may be slanted, though not uninformed, and through the lens of my nonpolitical and most likely flawed memory) my current insurance costs me in the range of $150-200 a month, but 'ObamaCare' would force me to go to a higher standard coverage, which will cost me (as a self-employed individual) around $400-600/month. That's as much to more than unemployment even offered me on the bad months, and leaves no room for anything else in my living expenses, like heat, food, etc.
