Have you considered looking into older anime? The UC run of Gundam is pretty cool. So's City Hunter and Lupin III.

I meant the manga. They have two different animations with two different endings, but the manga is unfinished!

City Hunter i believe i have watched. I don't *usually* like Mecha anime but i liked Gundam 8 MS Team, so i might have a look at UC Gundam. Lupin is the detective one, right? I didn't really like what i heard about it...

I'm mostly looking at newer anime because i have watched most of the good old stuff...

I know that. And that's why I pointed out that the TRC manga explores several of X-1999's main plot points. And TRC is getting a sequel that will further expand on them. It is my belief that CLAMP will finish X-1999's plot on Tsubasa World Chronicle.

The TRC anime unfortenely never moved beyond the "Gotta catch all of Sakura hime's feathers!"*, which is a big shame. Double so because they didn't even bother ending it. The OVAs glance a bit over the (much) darker and violent side of the 2nd part of the manga, but still pretty little.

Detective? I'm not sure I'd call it that... it's kinda like Robin Hood meets James Bond meets Indiana Jones.

In the manga, they drop that quest midway when they realize all their dimension-hoping is breaking reality apart. Sakura hime' even willingly to leave one of them behind to produce a magic lake to provide an eternal source of clean water to the survivors of post-apocalytic Tokyo.

Hm. That might work.

It's actually pretty amazing that a group like CLAMP has held together for so long and has been so prolific. They have published like what - almost thirty different manga in as many years?

I looked Lupin III and i think i might be mixing it up with another anime, most definitely. Detective Conan is the one i was thinking about.

I feel pretty mixed up about the art style... And it's pretty long, too.

Any other recommendations?

Can't bring myself to watch just a single season... i'd have to watch the entire thing if i started, lol. But if you're saying it's this good maybe i'll just take the bite.

Watching Souten no Ken right now. It's got good twists, and also clocks in at the 20-something episode range.

Nevermind watching Lupin III... Can't find a torrent with decent seeds on nyaa.eu and anidb pointed me to two dead fansubs for english or brazilian subs for the first season. This anime really has a lot of movies, doesn't it? And now i get why i confused the two, Lupin III and Detective Conan recently did a crossover movie and i probably picked up the info and stuff got lost in my brain which is why i confused the two.

Souten no Ken... It's really low-rated on anidb. So it's like a prequel to Hokuto no Ken? Or did the world somehow managed to un**** itself and survive on and it's a sequel? Or it's just a spinoff? I liked Hokuto no Ken quite a bit but i didn't finish it.

It's a prequel/spinoff, kind of. Let's be blunt, I just wanted to see some semi-historic fiction with people getting blow up by improbable martial arts.

I'll see if I can hunt you a decent torrent for Lupin III.

EDIT: There's also a more recent/updated series for Lupin III called Mine Fujiko to Iu Onna. Still ongoing.

Aldnoah.Zero is proving quite a nice mecha series, where ~~emotionless smart student in training real robot~~ brains beats ~~uber alien tech super robots~~ brawn.

Also, Sword Art Online II's main plot is nothing short of hilarious

True, but I find it even more amazing that CLAMP were (and kinda still are) ascended fangirls. Started making doujins (including yaoi saint seya it seems), nowadays are one of the biggest names in the manga world. And they're still kinda doujin writers since they go and re-use their own material again and again between their series, and we still love them for it (cough CLAMP in wonderland cough).

At least CLAMP puts their characters in completely new situations (let's pick the magic girl and turn her into a mundane gunslinger! And then the non-magic harmless girl and turn her into a magician who summons masses of black tentacles to punish people when not impaling them on ice spikes! And then the combat bots and put them into a love relationship!)

To be fair, Berserk isn't so much 'these character don't die when they should' (except Guts, I guess) but more 'the author's reaaaaaaaaaally slow'.

It's been going for 37 volumes and still doesn't look like it'll reach any kind of satisfactory conclusion any time soon. Also, Griffiths the original antagonist is still around being the biggest bastard in the story.
