Aldnoah.Zero is proving quite a nice mecha series, where
emotionless smart student in training real robot brains beats
uber alien tech super robots brawn.
Also, Sword Art Online II's main plot is nothing short of hilarious
1-Hey, there's this new shooter MMO that's all the rage! You can convert in-game money for real-life money! Also it's supposed to be sci-fi but kinetic weapons based on our modern stuff rule the PvP!
2-Oh, wait, there's a catch, people may die when they're killed (while playing). Again.
3-Let's call the hero of the previous series to solve this!
5-Hero believes that guns are for little girls, grabs himself a jedi saber photon blade plasma sword. Since the name of the series is still SWORD art online I guess.
6-Did I mention that the hero's bishonen level has been risen over 9001 so both male and female opponents are too busy drooling at him to be able to aim straight?
7-Hero also learns that he can deflect/cut bullets with his sword. No reason whatsoever is given about why the plasma blade sometimes crushes bullets and other times cuts them in half.
8-There's tecnically energy guns, but force fields that turn their hits into light scratches are cheap and light. Otherwise body armor is useless.
9-Hero angst now at the terrible, terrible memories from the previous season. Best way to get nurse tits on face. Did I mention that he gets a personal nurse? And is being paid for playing besides the in-game money he's collecting?
It's actually pretty amazing that a group like CLAMP has held together for so long and has been so prolific. They have published like what - almost thirty different manga in as many years?
True, but I find it even more amazing that CLAMP were (and kinda still are) ascended fangirls. Started making doujins (including yaoi saint seya it seems), nowadays are one of the biggest names in the manga world. And they're still kinda doujin writers since they go and re-use their own material again and again between their series, and we still love them for it (cough CLAMP in wonderland cough).
