Elizabeth makes sure her pistol is loaded with all of the shots it holds, then casts Personal Ward, assuming it can stack with Mental Ward (currently running from the auction).

It does.

Niemand looks at you.  "You know, normally people are full of questions about now."

"I... am. I just figured there wouldn't be time to answer them all once I started asking them.

How old are you and how did you learn about The Science? Sorry, you call it The Art."

"I was born near the beginning of the Roman Empire.  I learned from a Master who was, per the traditions of the time, not a mortal man.  I eventually betrayed him as apprentices are known to do, as several of my apprentices would betray me."

"Not that I'd expect you to divulge any information that could be used against you, but I'm surprised the sheriff was able to apprehend you. Was he older than he let on?

How much time do you think we have before we're attacked?

Did you know I'd follow or did you just happen to notice me after the fact?"

"He didn't apprehend me, I was imprisoned long ago.  The Sheriff simply built the jail on top of me.  I'd guess we have just enough time to complete the circle and for everyone to rehearse their part.  It's slow moving, compared to some animals anyway, and it has no allies yet that I know of.  Best we hide you before things get bad.  I noticed you at the auction.  I thought curiosity would get the better of you."

"I figured I didn't have time to research the book ahead of the auction and buying it outright would just make me a target. I'm picking up a couple minor curiosities, assuming I make it back to town.

When you said 'best we hide you', were you referring to masking my location, or should I turn myself into a rat and hide nearby?"

"Just suggesting you be out of sight somewhere nearby that you can shoot or cast from.  If you bought any books claiming to be 'grimoires', beware of spells that allow you to call, summon or bind anything.  Be especially careful of claims of opening doors or windows.  The Enemy's servants draft many traps for the unwary."

"That... makes sense. Thanks for the warning.

I'll be nearby."

The range of Burn is line of sight, but her pistol doesn't shoot as far. Elizabeth gets around 100 feet away from the group, looking for an area behind trees where she can hide. Is there any soft cover she can use to further conceal her location like bushes, fallen leaves, or fallen boughs?

There is a rocky outcropping you could set atop of.

You'll have to crouch but you can be hidden.  A storm seems to be heading in.  Along with strange dragging noises coming from the distance.  The group immediately begins chanting. You see nothing.  You seem to remember an invisible creature plaguing nearby towns before the move to Philadelphia.

Would Detect Supernatural Beings give her any indication as to the creature's location, or just its presence inside of "line of sight"? Does casting it give any indication of her presence?

It might give you away if you can be sensed magically or are overheard.  At 2+ ranks it will tell you where it is.

Thankfully for you the storm and the others chanting has effectively obscured you.  You can see the outline of something the size of a house.  Something ever shifting and gelatinous.  Something you're glad you can't make out other than a vague outline.  Niemand is obviously a supernatural being as well, and 2 of the others are too.

Elizabeth is assuming shooting at this thing would be a terrible idea. She keeps an eye out for any humans or similar beings who might try to stop the ritual.
