Finally got a court date for my disability hearing.  Now I just have to keep it together until then.

You need no such thing as luck, because I am cheering for you.

On a side note and a semi funny rant, my mom asked me to go with her and my sister to the mall to go see prices on smartphones (mine is getting old).

As we are returning, however, my sister is SERIOUSLY. LOSING. HER SHIT. because she had a date with some friends to go see Iron Man 3, and they forgot the tickets at home, and the line is supposed to be catastrophic, and she keeps blaming mom for being late and everything.

I ask her what time the screening will be. She says 9:30.

I look at my cell phone, checking which neighborhood we are in, and proclaim with finality:

"You will arrive at 9:09 PM, reach the booth by 9:19 PM, and enter the room with your friends at 9:29 PM. A wizard's sister is never early, nor is she late; she arrives precisely when I mean her to."

9:30 PM, I get a text from her.

"You keep that prophetic shit OUT of my relationships, alright?"

First some bad to put the good in perspective: I have an anxiety disorder. This disorder is essentially a hyperactive stress response. Any and all stress causes a feedback loop leading inevitably to a panic attack or my muscles failing entirely from tension. This makes exercise almost impossible, and I'm an emotional eater. +60lbs and a really bad exposure to allergens later, I'm in the ER choking, and my willpower has finally failed me. I admit during the psych test that I'm tired of being sick, tired of always being tired, and tired of fighting. If I could just stop breathing, that would be fine with me...
...right on queue, they push a syringe of Prednizone into me, followed right after by another one of Ativan. A family member picks me up, and they send me out with a bottle of Prednizone pills.

That's where I am now. 3 days in taking Prednizone to keep the stress responses down, and I don't hurt for the first time in over a decade. I'm 23. I forgot what it felt like NOT to hurt. I'll be seeing a psychiatrist to see about getting a permanent prescription for Ativan, as well as getting a weaker steroid to replace the prednizone when it runs out. This stuff makes me constantly hungry.

Considering how much effort I put into trying to lose weight, I can sympathize a lot.

Best wishes for the future, man.

Steroids cause hunger, weight gain, and increased blood sugar.  Be careful.

After four years of nothing, I finally convinced some friends to play D&D with me.  What makes it even better is that they all actually liked it and want to keep playing.
The DM giveth and the rogue taketh away.
I have a 5 in Charisma and Diplomacy is a cross-class skill.  Hopefully I don't piss off too many people.

Steroids cause hunger, weight gain, and increased blood sugar.  Be careful.

To be more specific, it causes increased appetite, which means you eat more, pushing up your blood sugar, and the unused calories make you gain weight. I'm going to be getting an ativan prescription though, which should suppress the appetite AND cut off my emotional eating.

Hell yeah!

1) I just finished my last final exam on Monday. My last one, ever. As in, I finally graduated. All that's left is to wait for my grades to come in and see whether I'm graduating with a GPA just above or just below 4.0. Bachelor of Computer Engineering, wahoo!

2) We have to do a capstone project to graduate. It's a year-long, self-directed team project to design and build a (hopefully marketable) product using all the skills we've learned over our 4 year program. My team came in first place! To quote one of my favourite movies...

Quote from: The Sphinx, Mystery Men
We are number one. All others are number two, or lower.

This is gym-related, but not really weight-loss-based:

Holy CRAP on a shingle! I just had an AMAZING day at the gym.  Almost every move in the gym (all but one) I upped the number of reps per set by at least 2 (making 10 total), to as high as 15 on a few sets. I could tell something was off when my first real set of the day, after warm-up, was assisted pull-ups at 50lbs, and instead of my usual 8, with the last crappy two not quite making chin-height, I instead managed 14 reps, with the same last crappy two, before I stopped. My next sets were 12/10/10, so not exactly a fluke.

Later on, on the one-handed isolateral low row, I maxed out the machine (putting 5 45lb plates on each lifting arm) and managed to pull 10/12/15!/15!

I dunno what changed! I finally got some new supplements in, but this is hardly major stuff, just a multivitamin pack and my usual pre-workout...

Wait.. Huh! I tried a new pre-workout mix alongside the regular one, a grape (eww) powder drink I downed in the car on the way in to the gym.. One dose out of a trial pack shouldn't be having this much effect, but if it IS that, then.. Maybe I need to get this stuff. Those kind of results.. Might be worth it.

Y'know, now that I think of it, the one move that didn't advance was most of the way through the night. I counted it as a fluke due to being distracted/rushed when I realized the gym would be closing before I could fit everything in, (which I did, one non-associated move I'll put in tomorrow..) but maybe that was it.

Sounds like fun all around, Red. Do be mindful of how tired/sore you become the next day - you probably know how it is, when your muscles are all warmed-up, you don't feel just how hard you've pushed yourself.

Congratulations either way. I know it's an awesome feeling.  :)

oddly, when i work out, if i'm going to get tired and/or sore, it's not till two or three days later, if ever.

Volume/Intensity ratio, niji. You won't typically feel any soreness during the exercise itself unless you're really pushing it, but the more you exercise, the more you reach for your boundaries.

When I first started, I did things like bicep curl sets of 30 repetitions with 5 kg on each hand - nowadays I do sets of 30 or 40 with 20 kg (depending on what other exercises I've got lined up). If I did now what I did then I wouldn't even feel a tingle, but with what I do now I'm in a good place where I'm not pushing too hard but I'm not dicking around either.

Now if only I could control my diet, I might lose more weight.

I sometimes feel my muscles stiffen and sometimes not. Sometimes I go a bit overboard (sets of 200 stomach crunches anyone?) and I need to lay low for a bit.

...You know, I just realized that out of context that might sound like I'm some kinda fitness nut... >.>;;

Finally got a court date for my disability hearing.  Now I just have to keep it together until then.
Here's hoping ...

(way off distant extended family)
They have an adopted 50 year old daughter
who moved, out of Massachusetts 1 day
before Romneycare started, to Texas.
Then she got M.S. the quick onset kind,
so she's on her way to the wheelchair,
and then she started going Blind, which
is the really+really bad version of M.S.
But this being Texas, she doesn't qualify
for any gummit help at all.
They're going to court all the way in Virginia.
Not as a case of will she eventually qualify.
Only when she's totally MS + Blind and not
a minute before ...  :fu

So yeah, keep it together.  It's a fight.
Your codpiece is a mimic.

I find it hilarious how many of the people on here are very into keeping healthy & fit. How many are trained martial artists of various styles.

And yet, the thing that makes that hilarious, is that we are the ones who are in the deepest end of D&D nerd-dom.
D&D 'geeks' that can kick, your, ass.
Because, there is nothing, and I mean nothing, so humiliating as starting a bar fight, then being beaten, and they guy who beat you starts calling out "Psh, you're, what?, a 3rd level commoner? I'm a 9th level Warblade, IN REAL LIFE, dude. Don't even think about trying me unless you're at least a 5th level Wizard." Followed by playing the FF7 fan-fair on their phone.
Because, if thy must whomp an ass, thy should verily make certain thy friends of thine foe get a great story out of it.
