OK so Straight to VHS is awesome. Like, amazing. You can play Robot Jesus. You can play a psychic toaster.

Just ran a quick 1-shot. Here's a quick synopsis of how it went.

Quote
I used the Plot Generator as a starting point, and got "Coming Straight to VHS: Our stars must follow a dangerous criminal into the ancient ruins in order to change the course of history." My player created a character using 3 Tropes (via the Dramatic Reveal Perk): Skate Ninja, Know-It-All, and Paid Sponsor. He ended up chasing "escaped madman and champion swimmer Miguel Phelps" through an abandoned tunnel system beneath the British Parliament, trying to recover a treaty between the UK and Albania involving an upcoming war against Spain. Since the protag's great-uncle Enver Hoxha was, of course, assassinated by Spanish militants, the protag had to prevent the treaty falling into the wrong hands, and avenge his great-uncle's death by taking out the Spanish Armada, a gang run by Miguel Phelps that trained alligators in that tunnel system.
A fight with some alligators, a ton of shurikens, and cutting through a chain&padlock with a katana later, the Brits have the treaty back, Hoxha is once again peaceful in his grave, and the protag's grandmother has accepted him as the true scion of the otherwise all-female line of Pink Skate Ninjas... at least, until the surviving members of the Armada catch up with him, and the alliance declares war on Spain...

The call center I work at is plagued by low-tech equipment and processes. For example, we can't actually record calls unless a supervisor or QA type manually sets up the system to record a specific agent ahead of time. Worse, when we're tracking what sorts of calls we're getting, we actually use tally sheets.

Seriously - each agent has a piece of paper with a dozen categories on it, and they make little marks in the columns for every call they get. Only about a tenth of calls get reported, and it takes about 3 hours to enter in one day's worth of calls (Well, 10% of one day's worth of calls). Guess who's job it is to enter those numbers in, build patterns, and recommend areas to focus on to improve call center efficiency. Me (and my team).

After a year of begging, we're finally getting a system that will allow agents to input those categories online. It will force them to pick a category after every call, and it will generate a report that I can use, instead of stacks of paper. It'll free up almost 30 hours a week for us, and let me be accurate and to dig into specific days and times.

I'm so happy.  :)

ARE YOU SURE THAT IS THE SUPERIOR TETRIS!?

PERHAPS IT COULD BE THIS ONE?

OR THIS ONE?

The Violin & Guitar one is pretty good. I never knew Laser Harps were a thing. Today i learned something! It's also pretty good - visually impressive. Tesla coils are nice, but they hurt the ears because of the ultra-high frequencies they produce!

I still think the one i linked is superior!

As we are all adult human beans here, I believe we can agree to disagree about what our favourite Tetris remix is.

(I always preferred to play with Theme C, anyway.)

Of course! I really liked the Laser Harp one, simply because it's visually stunning. I never knew that was a thing. Now i know.

But... Theme A 4lyfe yo, don't you dare diss on mah Theme A.  :pout

MtG Board Game coming this summer.
http://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/arcana/arena-planeswalkers-2015-02-25

It's to be around $30 a set and supposedly comes comes with six modular board pieces, four plastic terrain pieces, three plastic glyphs, two temple ruins, five painted Planeswalker mini figures (including Jace, awesome!), 30 squad mini figures, one 20-sided die, eight combat dice, 30 damage counters, 60 spell cards, 10 Squad stat cards, and five Planeswalker cards.

Play sounds like a cross between MtG & Risk. Summoning creatures to battle using die rolls and casting spells as you attempt to conquer your opponents. Except the map is made up in pieces with terrain rules so you can create unique layouts.

I've started playing some MtG with my 7 year old son. I might check this out, if the rules seem simple enough (MtG is almost too complicated for us, as it is... I hope this is simpler. It sounds like it might be.)
I don't pee messages into the snow often , but when I do , it's in Cyrillic with Fake Viagra.  Stay frosty my friends.

You can "dumb" down MtG by using simpler cards.

I'd suggest building five decks to teach the color pool. Use maybe 90% basic lands and 4 uniques, that way he can learn different lands and feel rewarded when one comes up. For the rest of the deck, use mostly non-ability creatures with a couple with easy theme fitting traits (red/haste, green/trample, etc). A couple also theme-fitting spell effects like discard, destroy, direct damage, etc and one or two Enchantment/Aura/Artifact per. Just work on basics, more balanced you can make the decks to each other the more fun you'll have too.
