The Level 2 swap is crap, but Meditative Focus (Use Magic Device) seems like it could be solid.
Won't work. Skill mastery doesn't work with UMD.
Anyway, he can change his skill mastery every day, so this might still be useful.

i cant 100 % speak about Rogues skill mastery, other than to say that my base sources dont call out UMD as problematic.

i do see that at least one version of skill mastery explicitly says umd is go.

edit: searching the faq, i see its prohibition.

So Rogues aren't allowed to have something nice when pretending to be a Wizard, but an Incantatrix is totally allowed to have something nice in Gestalt.

Disappointing, but not entirely unexpected.

So could someone summarize who can and can't use Skill Mastery on UMD?

Anything that references rogue skill mastery (like this monk) or uses the same wording (like exemplar) cannot ; anything that explicitly says "can take 10 on UMD" (like artificers and warlocks) can.
>This ability circumvents the normal rule that a character may not take 10 on a Use Magic Device check.

Exemplar and Temple Raider of Oli* don't give qualifier text for their Skill Masterys.

they don't reference rogue, list the skills that it works with or mention UMD.

idk about any errata that might exist for them. the errata i checked didn't mention it.

They have the same wording as rogue that only lets you take 10 on those skills you already could take 10, but now also while under stress.

UMD has a clause in it that specifically says characters can't Take 10 on it.  The only two abilities that explicitly override that are the artificer's and the warlock's.  It seems reasonable to suggest that, in this case, only an ability that says it overrides UMD's normal Take 10 rules would allow it to work, meaning any kind of Skill Mastery will not be applicable to UMD (or UPD).

That reminds me, I need to get back to my warlock/psionic theurge class...  Pretty sure I already gave it the ability to Take 10 on UPD but I'd have to check.

Dragon 359, page 112 Sage: an assassin death attack can be any attack, from one of the swings in a full attack to an AoO.

We have a 2nd Party thread for Dragon Mag, but nice inclusion of the page number.

Thank you, but no. This one always included Dragon material from the start, not going to post in that one.

I believe there was a discussion early in this thread or late in the previous in which it was thought that srperating the two fun finds would allow material to be sorted through better.

As the person trying to compile all of the Fun Finds into a handbook: I don't care.

(Thank you, so much, for putting that page number in, though. That's so useful, now I don't have to find it myself. :D :D )

Yeah there was.

It was back in December 2013, Linklord posted something from Birthright, a 2nd party (or less) campaign setting. A guy named Meiliken posed if it's not official it doesn't count. Quite a few people got drag in and it ran in the background for a page or two. Things ended up hitting a point when Zook mentioned there was no standard of acceptance 2nd party was fair game, if that was unliked you could do something as stupid as make a new thread.

So I did.  :)
Because for me it wasn't stupid. It stopped the debates for two years so general census would be that was exactly what we needed. It also promoted page indexing on Dragon Magazine submission, between it and me complaining about how much of a pain in the ass it was to find things in Dragon PDFs things have moved to listing page numbers so that's pretty nice. The thread also promoted obscure materials instead of the same 90 supplements being reposted again, I never even heard of athas.org until then and KoK's discussions were centered solely around Darklight. So the thread's creation had a very nice positive outcome on the forum.

Plus you know I'm kind of an extreme guy. Zook's comments about no standards of submission is an open can of worms.
(click to show/hide)
That's kind of a road we should never ever go down upon.

Here recently, despite dozens of 2nd party Supplements out there that we still have not gone through, the thread has decayed. Inactive and unknown because people (not just wingboner) are back to reposting semi-common Dragon Mag knowledge on this thread. It's a sad and terrible fate for such a great potential of discovery and new material.

Consensus and the slippery slope fallacy.

Still, yeah - guys, use the other thread. For clarity's sake, (and to shut up Sor0, at the very least. Don't give him more to whine about - he does it enough already.)

What 2nd Party is left to comb through?

If the thread has decayed then it might be time for a resurgence and I'm perfectly willing to try to find a few gems of discovery.

He seems to have changed tone recently; I've appreciated the tone of his posts in the last month or two.

Personally, I'd prefer the separation of 2nd party stuff as well.

Quick poke at the compilation thread says a ton of Rokukairyukenshuruken content was covered. DL was pretty well covered too, and Athas is a Dark Sun based deal so I guess that fared well.

I know KoK released a bunch of splat, not sure what all got posted. Birthright is an alien concept to me and I have no idea if anyone has ever really been through Dungeon. Plus who knows how many other 2nd party products were released.

And you always have the option of making a new thread, calling it 3rd party finds. For the sake of assortment, I'd stick to materials published vs posted homebrew. If they paid someone to print and distribute it, more than one person believed they had a product people would pay money to read.

It's been a steady trend probably over the last 2~3 years. I'm probably suffering from forum impotency.

Think they make a pill for that?

Aaaaand now I'm going to be scouring Dungeon. I needed a refresher on random DM bullshit anyway.
