I disagree with these guys on DCs. There's a big difference between early Homer Simpson and Jar Jar.

At one point a beloved family member is going to turn on you.

Never use explosives, that's just asking for trouble

Just because it has stats doesn't mean you can kill it

Scouts should always travel in pairs or have backup very close by

(What the hell just happened with those posts, mods if you will)

If the god you serve offers you power that requires that you follow a strict code, turn down the offer and find a new god.
Or alternatively, to keep to the "short and sweet" theme: The Paladin always falls.
Remember Paladins the DM is out to get you.

16 Make sure to invest some points into swim in case if have to get on that boat.

17 If your DM jacks your stuff. It means he's wants you to go somewhere.

General D&D Discussion / Re: D&D 5e: For real this time?
« on: November 01, 2012, 12:52:45 PM »
Let's see now wizards and clerics can now only cast 2 spells per spell level today (And no word on bonus spells) thereby the 5 min workday is in full force.

Word of Power is nice though is it wasn't for the aforementioned spells per day it would actually make healing worth it.

And LOL WOTC, nice try with disguising 3.5 feats as if they where TOB maneuvers (newsflash there not).

In short, Bleh!
The more they put out the worse things look.  Fighter and Rogue are basically the same dumb thing now and get feats as class abilities.  As a bonus they can't even use those class abilities as freely as they can feats!  Yay!
Sorcerer and Warlock are gone now, the masses didn't like them or something.  Pity those showed a sign of inventiveness.

On the upside, the Fighter does get a second attack at 6th that no one else does.  They found one thing to do right with the class.  It only took them three editions to go back to the well.  :smirk
Actually IMO the sorcerer and warlock were best thing to come out of the playtest. It was probably because they didn't feel like a sorcerer and warlock or something like that.

"Does this game have Dungeons?  Does this game have Dragons?  If so, then I wanna play this game!"

~The Dungeon Bastard
This, plus I don't believe in this whole "Feel of D&D" thing that Wizards is throwing around. It just sounds like wizards code phrase for "Were throwing 4th edition (And Tome of Battle) under the bus."

No. The Empyreal Knight is just a suckfest. Also trades away Lay on Hands and Channel Positive Energy for a weaker Summon Monster class feature.
It's really saying something about the archetype when the best part is the Mount upgrades.

And seriously Paizo, Get a single skill point in exchange to +3 or more to all saving throws

Anyone here played the La Mulana remake?

I wish I could say it looked like a Tome of battle class, but it really doesn't. Manoeuvre is just the word they use to refer to the fighter's powers. The big highlights of the Tome of Battle (pacing-based manoeuvre recovery, the stances, the variety of effects produced) don't show up in the 5e playtest fighter. So far, and I hate to say this, but he plays more like the 3e Fighter. Instead of bonus feats, he gets some tame at-wills that are based on past bonus feats. Examples: Cleave. Knock Down. Precise Shot. Parry.

So don't get your hopes up in that sense. He's more powerful than the 3e fighter in the sense that he hits things and they die, but that has a lot to do with how weak the monsters in the playtest are. A lot of the people on WotC's forum are going gaga over it, but you can see it for yourself: the 5e fighter is the 3e fighter with the serial numbers filed off.

Don't forget that the 5e fighter has NO customization what so ever. How 5e fighter works is that you choose your fighting style (Sword and Board, Two hand, etc) and this fighting style determines your maneuvers (I don't know about feats though as I got rid of that POS playtest).

And no they're not being Inspired by Tome of Battle cause because 1. It doesn't feel like D&D (Remember folks Wizards is looking for feel, not making a good game.) 2. Don't be silly that's giving non-casters nice things

Is this also going to be a rewrite of previous exotic weapons because if you can the Bastard Sword worth a feat I say do it.

Gr'rok  the half orc hitpoint bag... barbarian What gets me is that this was actually mechanically justified. Half orcs are pidgeon holed into melee... the INT hit takes skill points and wizardry out of the picture. The charisma hit makes sense in a non racist way (its hard to be a half orc in a humans world) but the Int hit is unjustifiable. Gr'okk has to become a barbarian or a fighter, or he is mechanically hindered. He can not make use of his only racial feature.

Also, while I'm this topic, if the DM isnt careful, Dungeons and Dragons can become something of a racial genocide, with the "good" races sending armies and adventurers to kill every member of an "evil" race they can find, take their possessions, and assassinate their leaders... All these orcish hordes, does anyone wonder why they keep coming back? What the orcs could possibly want? Could it be something understandable? like arable farmland or prime hunting ground? or maybe humans, those irreproachable explorers keep settling on orcish land?

Nope. They are evil. Go kill them adventurers. take their stuff. I have shinys and magic items for you when you return

I'd gladly launch a genocide on kender in any setting I play in.
Or Gnomes for that matter.

Flashdate!

After this update I think the trolls are beyond screwed now. Karkat is going to join Meenah on this suicide mission. Gamzee is indeed working for Kurloz and English. Long story short, this intermission is going to get ugly.

I would recommend throwing some martial adepts (Warblade in particular)
