Chapter 1: Introductions - An Arcane Heirophant Did It!

The tiny fairy looks quite smug at the result of her ice pillars... well, if anyone is paying attention to see something that small.

The wave of deadly phantasmal butterflies is a little harder to ignore. Not that they're super deadly, but they're cold, and even these creatures are inflicted with visions of their own demise. Which is, apparently, very cold.

Swift-Action Boost: Cold Sign; all cold damage dealt this turn deals 2d6 extra cold damage. (5 damage)

Fullround Strike: Ghastly Dream of Death. All enemies within 30' radius (so all of them) take 9 cold damage unless they succeed on a DC 20 Reflex save. They also take -1 to AC and Saves until their next turn.

Swarm deals 2d6 cold to rocky again. Still has that nausea effect if you start in its squares. (7 damage)

As the butterflies dance across his impassive face a thin coat of rime covers the prone rock creature, and it stiffens into a giant icicle before being sucked away.  The gargoyle creatures and one of the worms manage to dodge the freezing butterfly attack.  Two of the remaining worms are encrusted in ice.

Lynn moves away, still annoyed at the nuisances who sapped her strength. She stomps her foot in anger to show them who is boss.

Move: Tumble to avoid AoO, recovering Giant Oni of Earth's Axis.

Standard: Line AOE maneuver on the two flying foes. DC 19 Reflex or take damage equal to a Climb check (taking 10 for a total of 33 damage which is half fire, half bludgeoning) and be tripped and fall to the ground if they are flying (save negates the trip and halves the damage). Flying enemies that drop to the ground take minimum falling damage (1 damage per 10 ft, max 20 damage)

You must be on the ground to use this maneuver. You slam the ground and unleash a wave of jumping balls of fire that affect all under or within a line of up to 40 feet plus 10 ft per IL length, 5 ft width, and up to 2000 ft height. Victim are tripped take damage equal to a Climb check from you, half this damage is fire and the other half is bludgeoning. Flying victims crash to the ground below. A reflex save halves the damage and negates the trip, but not the falling.

Balls of fire explode from the ground where Lynn stomps her foot. They leap up and bounce off of the ceiling slamming the gargoyle creature nearest to Lynn into the ground.  The other manages to remain aloft but still gets burned.

The entangled worm moves and attacks Calder.  The unentagled worm takes a 5 ft step and manages to lash Calder once.  Three portals open and fierce-looking hawks poor through and begin attacking Aine and Ijol!  Aine easily dodges the clumsy beasts, but one manages to land a deep gash on Ijol.  The gargoyle creature next to Lynn stands up and while she bloodies him with an ugly scratch for his trouble, he just manages to touch Lynn with an eerily glowing claw.  The last gargoyle creature singed by the fire pulls out it's bow, and begins firing at Ijol.  It's arrows bounce harmlessly off his rocky skin.

Calder responds to the shuffling of the entangled worm with an arrow wreathed in electrical static, before taking another disturbing tentacle-lashing.

Calder tries to compose himself after the continued assault by the disturbing creatures, breathing out slowly as he lines up several more shots against the tentacled beasts, but he can't quite shake the unease. He deftly slips past one as he goes, hoping to prevent himself from giving up too much of an advantage to the things.

Calder's final arrow strikes the more menacing worm creature directly in it's mid-line.  The creature expires, and it is *VROOM'd* away.

Ijol keeps up the attack, becoming more enraged as he is hit.  He lets loose another another singular powerful blow

1 fury as a standard action to make a single melee attack dealing an extra 6d6 damage and ignoring DR/hardness.

Attacks count as +1 cold iron weapons.

Attacking the tentacle thing.

Attack: 36 (I accidentally added the haste bonus to the attack roll); 36 damage

On hit, 1 bleed damage and 5 feet reduced speed to target (stacks per attack) plus Reflex DC 25 or be slowed for one round (one save per round).

I heal 10% of the damage dealt with physical attacks.

The creatures seemed to have grown stronger as they have drained your vital essence.

The swarm moves, and Aine seems to gaze around at the surrounding creatures, trying to get their attention. She's awfully visible for such a small figure, isn't she?

Paralyzing Glance--Hold Monster effect on enemies within 40'. Save is DC 22. For every creature that succeeds or proves immune, Aine recovers one maneuver.

Swarm moves to cover the two enemies by Ijol and Lynn. Provokes AoO from both (see stats in earlier post). If still alive, 2d6 (5) negative energy damage (swarm attack) and they must make a DC 21 fort save or be nauseated at the start of the round.

The gargoyle creature nearest Lynn stiffens at the sight of Aine's cold gaze - as do the two hawks surrounding her which proceed to fall - their stiff bodies bouncing roughly on the ground.  The worm creatures having no discernible visual organs don't appear to notice.

As the ghosly butterfly swarm makes it's way to the creatures engaged with Ijol and Lynn the worm creatures lashes out with a slimy tentacle and smashes enough of their fragile bodies to disperse the swarm.

Lynn tumbles to a different position moving past the worm, and launches two rings of dark energy, one at each worm.

Worms can choose to be grappled or make an AoO vs AC 38 (being free if they succeed or taking 33 damage (taking 10 on Climb) if they fail and being subject to the grapple check.

Hell is inescapable once inside

You produce and fling a ring of dark energy at one enemy as thrown attack with range increment 30 feet. It  hits automatically and grapples the target as if it was you, ignoring Freedom of Movement effects and inflicting a Dimensional Lock effect on the victim. The ring lasts until the victim succeeds on a grapple check against it. The victim is allowed an Aoo against the ring as it approaches, with the ring having the same AC as you plus your IL. If they hit this Aoo, then they automatically avoid the grapple. If they miss the Aoo, they take damage equal to a Climb check from you.

At IL 4, 8, 12, 16 and 20 you can throw an extra ring at a different target.

The paralyzed creatures remain locked in place.  The worm creature next to Calder throws off the black ring as it encircles it, but the one next to Ijol struggles as it is wrapped up in the flexible disc of darkness.  In desperation the worm creature lashes out with single minded determination to feast on Calder's brains.  One fierce blow strikes him in the head, and as he is reeling a second smashes into his neck.

  The tenor of Proteon's voice reaches a crescendo and what looks like a dragon with gem-like skin emerges from a golden portal and attacks Aine with blinding speed.  Despite her wounds from the arrows she dances around them easily.

The lucky hit... doesn't, phasing through the annoyed-looking fairy without leaving a mark as she disappears from view.

Need to wait 2 rounds before it can be used again.

Calder finds himself in more peril than he expected... perhaps the Captain was right to be skeptical. He shakes the thought from his head and aims his bow again, though somehow he feels he'd be more accurate shooting from the hip.

Calder's aim proves true.  He adds two more crackling electrical arrows into the worm creature's maw, and it bursts open in putrescent goo before being Vroom'd away.  He aims his third arrow at the hawk paralyzed at the feet of Aine, and it pierces it through the left wing.

Ijol's movements speed up as he tries to finish off these creatures.

Attacking the tentacle thing.  If I somehow kill it, further attacks go to the flying bastard if it's in reach.

Ijol leads with a left slash across his body which staggers the worm creature and follows up with a right stab that ends its time on this plane.  The furious rockman spins and windmills with his left appendage which knocks the hawk down into a piercing right uppercut that skewers the bird - significantly slowing it down.

Lynn moves into the spot vacated by her fine lady companion and attacks the dragon. After a few punches and kicks, she aims for a grab at it's limbs.
