((In the interest of moving things along, I'll assume you search the chamber.))

You find nothing in particular of interest in this chamber.  As you continue around the corner, the echoing sound of running water fades behind you.  The chamber ahead is of similar make, but has a large crack running through the center.  Luckily, it's easily traversed.

At roughly the same time, Boon, Willow, Isaac, and Snowy all notice something odd about a couple of the stalactites hanging from the ceiling above you.  Before you can react, 3 of them loosen their grip on the ceiling and let out piercing shrieks, before the room plunges into blackness.

((Initiative, please.  The Boon, Willow, Isaac, and Snowy get to act in the surprise round, and know the spaces where the creatures are.  If/when the darkness goes away, I'll post a battle map.

The ceiling is low enough to attack for anyone who is not Small.))

B O O N moves to stand near Kara and Snowy, as he does, he draws his spiked chain and shouts
" Watch out! There's some sort of creature near the ceiling.. it looked like one of those hangy rocks.. "  He launches his  trusty spiked chain 'Horrendous Pain', where he saw the creature. (for my surprise round action)

initiative/surprise round attack/dmg (1d20+3=20, 1d20+5=15, 2d4+4=8)
not sure if the darkness can be seen through, do I need to roll a miss chance?

Isaac, surprising himself with how quickly he jumped after catching the glimpse of them, yanked his sword from his sheathe and his necklace-light from his shirt. "What in Escanthia are they?"

Regardless, she'll just use her breath in a cone towards the mass with Entangling Exhalation, DC 14 Reflex half.

Fire damage 1d6 : 5, total 5
/ 2
Round(s) entangled 1d4 : 3, total 3

((Still waiting on Sorrel's initiative, but he's not acting in the surprise round so we'll continue.))

INITIATIVE ORDER (* surprise round action)
22   enemy B*
>>20   willow*
20   boon*
20   legion
15   isaac*
13   snowy*
13   enemy C*
12   kara
8   enemy A*

Boon feels something leathery brush against him, but even his half-orc eyes can't see what's going on.

Willow draws a dagger, straining his eyes to find something to strike.  He isn't used to darkness this deep, even with his dwarven eyes.

Boon whips his chain towards his opponent, the spikes bouncing off...whatever it is without seeming to do any damage.

Legion is quite surprised...

Isaac draws his sword and a torch, which doesn't seem to help lift the darkness.

Snowy breathes a gout of flame, and hopes it hurts them...

Sorrel & Kara are surprised.

One of the creatures drops onto Willow, dealing 5 points of damage and attempting a grapple ((grapple check, please -- DC 16)).

One of the creatures drops very heavily onto Legion, dealing 10 points of damage and attempting a grapple ((grapple check, please -- DC 3))

The first attempts to attack Boon, and misses again.  Oops.  It kind of sucks.  ((And I may be a little drunk.))

INITIATIVE ORDER
22   enemy B
>>20   willow
>>20   boon
>>20   legion
>>15   isaac
>>13   snowy
13   enemy C
12   kara
12   sorrel
8   enemy A
