Everyn thinks for but a moment before answering, "Well, were we not just saying yesterday that we needed to find a more exciting job? Even split 6 ways the gold being offered is better than what the merchant are paying to guard their goods in transit. I am certain our fellows in the Storm Wolves will agree too." and looks to Atanos.

Hell, the spread that Marsh will provide almost makes it worth while, I've had a hankering for it ever since our last meal was cut short. But I would like to speak with this prisoner if its okay with youMaking strong eye contact with the counselmen. You say he is likely to be executed for his crimes could I promiss him freedom for information with the guaruntee that he will never live out said freedom once I get the information I desire?

Troyas sternly gazes from Atanos to Soffa at the suggestion as if it was meant in jest, "We live in a civilized society in Loudwater. Bluff him as you will but you are not to take matters into your own hands. He will stand trial for his actions and he will answer for them if found guilty."

Söffå gestures to Troyas as if to indicate that maybe the drink might be affecting his friend...

"Of course - Justice is, after all, what separates us from these beasts.  Would we be able to see him presently?  Please, lead the way."

"The wretch has been placed in the stocks in the market square. Susteen can take you there. And may whatever gods listen watch out for you and bring you back here with the one taken." Councilman Troyas bids you farewell and resumes his labors at his desk.

"Thank you, sir.  I look forward to meeting again under happier circumstances."

Söffå excuses himself and begins to follow Susteen towards the market square.  As he walks, he whispers briefly with Atanos and Everyn.  "I loath these creatures as much as you.  We need the truth, though - Let's not be too... overzealous ...in our persuasion, yes?"

"Agreed." Everyn says, "Should we meet up with the Storm Wolves first and bring them with us? Perhaps they have completed seeing to their friends burials by now."

"Everyn, a fine idea."

"Susteen, we will swing by the river, I think, on our way to the square, to join with our comrades.  I trust this will be satisfactory to you?  If you are busy, you may go ahead and we will meet you there shortly; but before you go, please advise us where on the river they may have gone to purchase an inexpensive boat - This will help us find them quickly."

"Atanos, I am sure your imagination will suffice, if it comes to that."  Söffå shrugs.  "However, I think we need to first see where the beasts loyalty truly lies.  Indeed, perhaps the Storm Wolves have some means at their disposal for such purposes?"

After pausing briefly to eye the sternness on Atanos' face, he continues:  "Actually, I think the promise of your, ahem, imagination may suffice to convince the creature to cooperate.  Shan't we use this threat, before resorting to more, shall we say, permanent measures?"

"No I am not busy, I can lead you to the river. Probably bought one from the Riverfolk, right." Susteen says as he turns you down a different street leading to the Delimbyr's docks.

"Most unfortunate business. There was Eladrin among their ranks that passed in the fighting. He had the look of a magic user about him. I wonder how they will lay him to rest." Everyn says.

The group approaches the Storm Wolves. Everyn stops next to Thespias as he stands looking down at the Eladrin body laid to rest in the boat. In a soft melodic tone he asks, "Did you know him well Thespias?"

Dunor stands at the stern of the small boat moored at the end of a fairly remote piece of land, holding both a torch and a small wooden bowl. Within the boat are several bodies, covered in shrouds and surrounded by the items owned by the corpses, as well as a good deal of dirt which seems to be weighing the boat down, and some dry reeds. Holding the torch above the bowl, he gives the stick a few tight shakes, and bits of ashen charcoal fall into the curvature of the bowl. The northerner passes the torch off momentarily, dabs two fingers into the ashes, then drags the ashes along the vertical length of his forehead and under each eye. He holds the bowl out to Theo and Dalanath, indicating that they should follow suit. Once all three are adorned, he utters a few short sentences in a foreign tongue; the words are spoken in an intently low register, and Dunor seems to hang on certain syllables as though the passage were escaping from some deep recesses within his body. It sounded vaguely dwarven, but is not recognizable as sharing that language's vocabulary or grammar.

Dunor unties the boat and kicks it out from land's edge.  Before it gets too far out, he tosses the torch in, catching the reeds aflame, and soon the rest of the contents begin to burn.

Søffå is overwhelmed by the power of the moment; hearing the words spoken by Dunor and viewing the spectacle of the floating funeral pyre, a wave of emotion surges through him.

As the smoke drifts upwards into the mid-morning sky, he solemnly utters a few words of respect:

Dalanath follows Dunor's lead, his face displaying no emotion.

Everyn looks on in confusion at the strangeness and unfamiliarity of the ceremony. Grief plain on his face at the loss of one of his people. He issues in a soft whisper, "Lisse' Alus ent Iva Lalaith"

A blaze erupts in the boat, luckily an eddy in the river keeps the boat in the center of the water, spinning slowly. The smell of burning flesh fills the immediate area. Small sparks and slight fizzling fireworks pop from the boat as the Eladrin's magical reagents and books are consumed by the flames.

Everyn lays a consoling hand on Theo's shoulder.

Eventually after a number of minutes pass, the conflagration compromises the boat and it collapses into the water ashes spreading into the current and being carried off.

Everyn lets these new companions of his grieve for a few minutes after the boat disappears under the waters of the river. Then breaks the silence,  "Would you like to take vengeance on the very ones who caused this? My friends and I are going out after them after we question a prisoner taken from last nights attack."

Watching his brother's body burn, Dalanath grieves internally though his face shows no sign of it.  He reaches into his belt pouch and pulls out the carving he had taken from Rothgar's body, gently rubbing it with his thumb.  Rothgar's death was a waste, he died for those who did not know him and would not truly appreciate his sacrifice, just as Dalanath always knew he would.

Upon hearing the offer of vengeance, Dalanath looks to Dunor.  "Shall we?"

Dunor's face likewise showed no sadness, his emotions bottled well. After a moment, he said, "I would like nothing more than to cut a swath of bloody vengeance through those that have taken our friends and loved ones from us. Where do we begin?"
