I do love it when players make their own problems.  What started out as an easy boss fight turned difficult due to their own actions, complete with bosses turning red, unstable portals, and contacting That Which Should Not Be.

And that's before the game turned into Paranoia.  No enemies in sight and yet I have them trading blows.  Today has been a fulfilling day.

So, I got the bill for my next semester today.

The school owes me money. For the privilege of my presence.

And this isn't even factoring in my scholarships.

 :lmao

(I've got an apartment this year instead of living on campus. Amazing how much cheaper it is when you don't live on the premises.  :D)

I'm going to a public state school; I live in state, so my tuition is about $3000 a semester. Along with miscellaneous other fees, it comes to about $4000 dollars a semester.

I'm from a middlingly poor family (New York State has a program where, if your family had a small enough income, your lunch was a quarter. I qualified.), which combined with my pretty good academics gives me about $5000 dollars in combined financial aid from the State and from the Fed.

I also have $2200 in scholarships (well, sholarship; one local scholarship that you can only get if you live within a select number of counties in Upstate New York), which, if I keep my grades up, will only increase.

Combine this with the fact that my college is ranked in the top hundred universities (private and public) in the US, and... yeah.

The school owes me ~$1000 dollars now. And the scholarship will get refunded straight to me; I'll probably use it to pay rent.

How odd, you get more money explicitly for tuition than the tuition itself, and yet you get it anyway?

Yep.

More scholarships work like that than you'd think.

It actually makes a lot of sense. It's not uncommon in a low-income situation that if Amechra wanted to study, he would still need to generate enough income for other tuition-related expenses, such as transportation. It's not really "the state owes him money" so much as "the State provides him with more money than he would need strictly for tuition so he gets to actually benefit from the program".

With that said, rent in New York state sounds REALLY expensive if it costs you 1000 dollars a month and it's still cheaper than living on the premises.  :twitch

$1560 for two months. That's actually pretty expensive, comparatively; if I was wiling to commute further, I could get down to $400-ish a month... but that would involve living with people.

>.> I wonder if I'm getting a good deal now, my rent is $700 a month.  While I've probably saved more than enough in gas (I am 5 minutes away from work) I thought $700 was a moderate to good price when it came to apartments.

I think my uni is charging me ~900$ (rounded up after conversion) a month. On campus, no separate network, water, or electricity fees. Brand new building, en suite facilities. Not sure if this is a good deal or not.

I do know that I'm right next to the lake. Also on the top floor. :lmao

George Takei's Twitter account.

I'm not always keen on people who collect random assortments of funny Internet stuff, but there's something charming about the way Uncle George does it.

THREE NATURAL TWENTIES IN A ROW

THREE
IN A ROW
Last session in this campaign, I spent four hours and didn't roll above a five.

BUT THIS TIME I GOT THREE NATURAL TWENTIES.

For context - it was a Fortitude save against a curse that would have aged me to dead (instead I just got a cool stripe of silver-gray hair... on my CHA 20 summoner, so yeah!), our Initiative roll for combat, and then the knowledge check to identify our enemies.

I hope those were vital rolls you got them on!

Edit: I see they were, from your edit.  Great job!
